While earning my Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry at Delaware State University, I invested in many enrichment opportunities to develop and further mold my knowledge of current sync practices and the music industry at large. I developed a genuine interest in both the artist and label side of the sync licensing industry. When working as an Artist/Executive Producer/Art Director for Delaware State University’s record label, Class Records, I served as the sole individual in charge of keeping together split sheets and royalties for each artist, engineer, and producer that was part of our album’s creation.
For experiential learning, I interned for WavLab Studios shadowing the Grammy U Mentor, Audio Engineer, and Producer, Geronimo Vannicola. I managed our social media content and produced graphic design work for our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X) pages, which required keen attention to detail and thoroughness. During my internship, I frequently worked alongside creatives and developed a skill set of clear and concise communication with clients which was also present while working with artists at Well Dunn, and interning with Route Runna Entertainment as we would consistently converse and connect with many high-profile artists and music industry figures. I was also placed in charge of organizing, curating, and promoting WavLab’s networking events, along with additional administrative responsibilities which included dealing with confidential information regarding clients and keeping account of the studio's finances during their move into a larger studio space.
Throughout my time at Tuff City Records, I have further developed my interpersonal skills through my experience in handling emails, and scheduling, which has proven to be crucial for liaising with artists, music supervisors, licensors, and other stakeholders in the synchronization process. Furthermore, I learned to properly facilitate smooth negotiations and collaborations in my personal artist career with the current non exclusive representation deals I have with Sync Files and GoldMind Music.
With the large volume of contracts and legal documents processed at Tuff City Records, I was involved in assisting with the preparation, scanning, review, and management of contracts. I understand the importance of ensuring that contracts accurately reflect negotiated terms and comply with legal requirements, thus preventing errors and discrepancies in contract language. Effective time management was essential for managing day-to-day administrative duties and juggling multiple tasks and priorities within tight deadlines. I have experience in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively, which will be invaluable in meeting project deadlines and milestones in the music field.
